History

Herakles is the favored son of the almighty Zeus, father of the Greek pantheon of gods. Though born a mortal, he earned his godhood by completing a number of impressive feats many centuries ago. Worshipped by the Greek people, Herakles impressed millions with his unparalleled strength and unrivaled bravery.

When the secret of forging iron was passed onto mortals in 1180 BC, humans waged war with the Gods. All of the various pantheons of Gods regrouped and chose to live within their own sacred dimensional realms. A vow of non-interference with mortals was established and deities had no more contact with their former subjects.

Herakles remained in Olympus until early 1998 when he was sent by the Elder Gods to prevent an uprising on the planet Godworld. The rebellious Thor was readying his brethren for an invasion of Earth when Dragon and Smasher were present. They were joined by Herakles in fending off this army until AllGod arrived. He put an end to the fighting before sending the mortals home.

The Elder Gods decided that the existence of demi-gods and godlings on Earth was a form of interference in mortal matters. They had Herakles assemble a team to retrieve these people and take them to Godworld for the rest of their lives. The God Squad were successful for a time but were eventually defeated when they tried to abduct Zeek.

Godworld was later destroyed as a result of mortals’ actions and its denizens were left stranded on Earth. Herakles remained on the planet and soon joined the Special Operations Strikeforce, eager to prove himself amongst mortals once more. He remained with the team for several years and fought against many deadly foes such as DarkLord.

After CyberFace took control of the planet, the Gods regrouped to a remote mountain region where they established a new home of their own, God Town. Herakles was made the leader of this city and he forged a deal with CyberFace, ensuring that neither party would interfere with the actions of the other.

Dragon attempted to recruit the Gods as allies in his efforts to overthrow CyberFace but they refused. The Gods instead opted to turn God Town into an airborne city to avoid further contact with mortals and even turned their home invisible after tensions began between them and the United States.

God Town later crashed back down to the ground when a commercial airliner collided with the invisible metropolis. This impact released the Forever Serpent that took the combined might of the Gods, Special Operations Strikeforce and Dragon to defeat it. AllGod appeared in the aftermath and allowed the Gods to live amongst mortals.
