History
Mildred was the loving wife of Chicago Police Department’s Frank Darling, a respected officer on the force and the best friend to Dragon. She briefly left her husband when his life was turned upside down through blackmail from the Vicious Circle. This estrangement did not last long and the couple were reunited, having a son together that they named Frank Jr.
The Darling family were one of the main constants throughout the rollercoaster life of Dragon and Mildred was always there, offering advice to her husband and their friend. When Frank was killed as part of a Vicious Circle plot, Mildred was left destroyed, desperate for the death not to have been real and hoping that Frank would return.
Eventually, realisation set in and Mildred began to get on with her life again, raising Frank Jr. on her own. When Dragon was killed and resurrected as his original Emperor Kurr persona, the hero’s children, Malcolm and Angel, moved in with Mildred as she (and Frank) had been chosen as godparents.
Mildred would then show up from time to time and would often share her wisdom with the kids. She attends Frank Jr’s. and Tierra’s wedding. Mildred is later seen giving Malcolm driving lessons and is present when Frank and Tierra have their baby.
