History

The Shrew was one of the many freaks in Chicago that could find no employment and had to resort to living on the streets. It was during this period of homelessness that the Shrew became possessed by one of Horde’s leeches. He was sent on a mass killing spree that took Dragon several days to halt, eventually arresting the Shrew after a brutal fight.

After it was determined that the leech had been responsible for his rampage, the Shrew was released back to the streets, only to suffer a vicious beating at the hands of Mace. He soon recovered and took up residence in Chicago’s underground, joining up with the tribe of freaks led by Rock.

These Underground Freaks became allies to Dragon during a number of incidents and when he was putting together the first Special Operations Strikeforce, Dragon invited many of them to join the team. The Shrew joined up for several years of service but when CyberFace took control of the planet, he returned to Chicago’s underground with several of his old allies to avoid forced service or death.

When Dragon had brought down CyberFace, with the assistance of several allies that included the Underground Freaks, the planet went through a period of rebuilding. Dragon helped set Rock up with a house and even a business, the Rock House Diner. The Shrew became part of this family and worked at the diner.

It was in the diner that Nick Justice of the Vicious Circle attempted to extort money or service from Rock. The Shrew came to his long-time friend’s aid by killing this thug which led to the business becoming targeted. Rock led his family to join an army of superheroes in bringing down the Vicious Circle but in the ensuing chaos, the Shrew was shot in the head by one of the villains.
