History

Phil Dirt was one of Dragon’s first friends when he joined the Chicago Police Department and he also developed a crush on the hero. His homosexuality was something that made Phil’s partner on the force uncomfortable. Howard Niseman was bigoted and disliked his partner’s sexual orientation but despite their personal differences aside, they were loyal to one another.

Phil was present when Octopus abducted Howard Niseman and he raced to get help to save him. This loyalty was reciprocated when Phil was mauled by the shark-man known as Mako, leaving him gravely ill. It was then that Phil discovered that he was infected with A.I.D.S. and he asked Howard for help. Howard asked Dragon to give a blood transfusion to Phil which momentarily cured Phil and even regenerated the wounds he received at the hands (and teeth) of Mako. Unfortunately, the unstable nature of Dragon’s blood caused Phil to explode all over an unsuspecting Howard.
