History

Horde was created by Abner Cadaver as he instructed hundreds of his creations, leech-like creatures called the Wicked Worm, to take possession of his nemesis, Fon~Ti. The mystical force for good had been weakened through constant conflict with his nemesis and was temporarily disposed of by having him form of the physical basis for Horde.

This new supervillain began operating from the shadows by causing the relatively passive Shrew to go on a murderous rampage. Dragon was dispatched to deal with this threat and eventually brought down the Shrew who was taken away into police custody. An examination revealed the presence of a now deceased leech which was determined to be the cause of the mayhem.

Another such leech appeared when SuperPatriot was mentally-enslaved and sent to eliminate Dragon, recovering from horrific injuries inflicted upon him by OverLord. The Dragon managed to identify the real cause of his assault and crushes the life from the responsible creature. At this point, the origin of the leeches remained an unresolved mystery.

It was only when Dragon was possessed and tore through Chicago that the true culprit was at least partially revealed. The rampage was only ended when the merciless vigilante known as Mace unknowingly killed the Wicked Worm. Dragon was left to atone for his crimes, unaware that Horde had been pleased by this test and is confident that he will soon rule the entire world.

The ambitious Horde did not reappear until the conclusion of the gang war that swept through Chicago following the death of OverLord. He took control over CyberFace, taking advantage of his pawn’s recent appointment as new leader of the Vicious Circle. Horde remained hidden until CyberFace was wasting away due to his failed ressurection by a government project.

Horde made it clear that if CyberFace did not save himself then he would be replaced quickly and there would be no further chance of survival. Unfortunately, CyberFace died shortly afterwards which forced Horde to step from the shadows. In order to avoid any rebellion, he simply controlled any members of the Vicious Circle who questioned his position using his legions of Wicked Worms.

Having conspired with the corrupt police captain Jose Mendosa, and later the shape-shifting Imposter who replaced the authority figure, Horde managed to have Dragon fired from the police. He then ordered his Vicious Circle slaves to kill Dragon but was infuriated by their failure. Horde secured the power gloves once wielded by She-Dragon and awaited an inevitable confrontation with his nemesis.
The Dragon soon faced him in combat and killed the Wicked Worms using a gas provided by a renegade faction of the Vicious Circle led by PowerHouse. Horde was killed, allowing Fon~Ti to escape and rejuvenate his power levels. Without the sorcerer to act as a host, the one surviving Wicked Worm could not recreate the Horde entity.
