History

Flash Mercury used to be a race car driver before he was injured in a horrific accident which left him almost completely paralyzed. He was visited by the Creator who used his abilities to transform him into a superhuman who liked to call himself “the Spectacular Dragon.” Flash Mercury was not a fan of his new costume but needed to wear his mask in order to regain his mobility and access his powers.

The Creator would not allow his subject to act as a superhero, instead forcing him to perform criminal acts. He sent Flash Mercury and the Nixed Men after Dragon caused the deaths of the Homages. Many of his companions were killed during a fight that involved a number of different factions of super-powered individuals.

Flash Mercury disliked hunting Dragon and refused to commit any more criminal acts, such as assisting in the liberation of the Creator from prison. He returned home from purchasing groceries to discover that his benefactor had been killed, shot dead by Mister Glum when he took the villain’s headquarters as his own hideout.

After being one of the first to fall victim to Mister Glum’s ability to control humanity through his wish with the God Gun, Flash Mercury later watched the Speed Racer movie and became hugely inspired by it. He purchased a sports car to transport him to fights and set out to finally become the hero he always wanted to be.

When Dragon returned to his original Emperor Kurr persona, he fought and killed Dark Dragon, causing massive damage throughout Chicago. Flash Mercury assisted in the rescue efforts and befriended Malcolm Dragon. The pair tried to tackle Kurr but were both soundly defeated by the brutal villain.

After being defeated as OverLord and demasked by Dragon, he is freed from police custody due to the help of Powerhouse. Powerhouse wants to form a partnership between the two and gives Flash his mask back as a sign of good faith. Powerhouse later introduces Flash Mercury to a few second generation members of the Vicious Circle. However, they soon come across a brawl between the Vicious Cirlce and the Claw. Both try to stop the Claw, but are quickly beaten. Powerhouse and Flash Mercury are soon kicked out of the Vicious Circle and banished from Chicago by FirePower the new leader of the VC for not sharing the same ideals as the current VC regiment.

After leaving Chicago, Flash Mercury along with Fever and Powerhouse start a business taking care of threats around the country. Their first assignment is Dr.Frankenstein and his monsters which they quickly take care of.
